Glossy finish Urushi lacquer

The best time of Japanese lacquer has passed. With the relationship between the image, the material and the shape that has lived through the ages in mind, this is one piece of furniture which I have been designing to revive the lacquer and to present it in contemporary furniture.
I chose urushi tallow finish and dry lacquer finish out of numerous lacquering methods and added the stoic but tranquil taste and glossy coating to its form. Purple is said to be one of unstable colors in lacquer but this one shouldn't be excluded. It was lucky to have met a skilful lacquerer. This is the world of handiwork where a skilful craftsman is indispensable for a large piece.
